I was at the mall the other day with the family when they decided to have a “food court dinner”. Ahh the choices… pizza?greasy sub?Chinese? What oh what will I choose? And then like a beacon of light Chic-fil-A appeared in my line of vision. And what did they have but a Southwest Salad! If you have read the McDonald’s review you may understand why those words made my ears perk up and say Hey that sounds good!
And overall it was good, although not as good as its much younger and more attractive McSibling. I did enjoy that the salad had everything separated out initially. If you look at the picture above that is exactly how the salad looked when I received it. Which is great but also kind of creepy/disturbing if you think about what that means as far as freshness etc. Not only that but carrots?…and that purple mysterious veggie that I can not think of the name of at the moment.. on a Southwest salad? This salad also looks mysteriously like all the other Chick-fil-A salads but with a different kind of chicken…
So there was all of that AND according to the website I was supposed to receive tortilla chip strips and a specific spicy salad dressing- unfortunately I did not : ( Maybe what I thought was a seasoned Chick-fil-A employee was in fact a newbie, who knows.
The nutrition facts sure are impressive though! For about 100 calories less and a gram less of fat than the McDonald’s Southwest Salad it was acceptable. And the salad is really spicy, even without the dressing, which frankly is slightly lacking in the McDonald’s Salad. Overall I did enjoy the Chick-fil-A version, but I still would have chosen the McDonald’s Southwest Salad instead.
Here is what some other reviewers thought of the item:
RED CABBAGE! That’s what that stuff is….
